Message From The Director

Dear All,

I feel privileged to get an opportunity for being part of the Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST), Mohali (Punjab), an autonomous institution of Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, which has been established under the umbrella of NANO MISSION, initiated by DST to boost research and development in the field of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in India. INST started its activities on 3rd January 2013.
It gives me immense pleasure to know that the faculty have made significant scientific contributions as reflected by the quality as well as number of research publications from INST over the last 06 years. I am happy to know that at the academic front also, the institute is progressing well. The talent and the energy which our students possess need to be nurtured, shaped and channelled in the right direction. Our combined efforts would bring out not only the best in their careers, but the best in their lives. In this way we hope to support not only individuals but also the entire society from which we all benefit.
In a short span of six years, the institute has created some major facilities to meet current research requirement. It is needless to mention here that some of the notable and promising activities/accomplishments at INST were done under the guidance of Founding Director Prof. Ashok K. Ganguli and Acting Director, Prof. Hirendra Nath Ghosh.
I am highly contended that INST has worked as a team and brought this institute on the forefront of research map of Nano Science and Technology at a fast pace during its initial years. This is a great achievement and a matter of pride for INST. We have a very good support system with officers and administrative staff members, which have been relentlessly helping the Institute in its pursuits of excellence in Science. I am quite confident that the institute with its continued efforts will be a leading research institute in the area of nanoscience and nanotechnology recognized globally, where efforts in research will ultimately translate to society.
I would like to conclude by the saying of Nelson Mandela, “A winner is a dreamer who never gives up” so keep up the good work.
I wish my INST family all the very best.
