The last few decades have witnessed the coming of age of nano science and technology. The nano world, replete with mysteries galore and promises aplenty, has been explored extensively by researchers with diverse expertise, leading to an intricate understanding of nano materials and their applications in fields ranging from energy harvesting to drug delivery, from tiny devices with unprecedented capability to nanofertilizers. The prospects of nano science and technology led them to be recognized as thrust areas of our country. The establishment of Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST), about twelve years ago, was a result of the pressing need felt at that time, for a research institute dedicated to this upcoming area. Having started its journey from rented premises, the institute moved into its swanky new campus in 2020. Today, it has carved its place under the sun. Not only have we contributed to the field through high quality publications, but also we have developed futuristic technologies. We have established collaborations with prominent academic/ research institutions in India and abroad. In addition to the generous financial support by Department of Science and Technology, we have attracted substantial research grants from several funding agencies. They have enabled us in our pursuit of solutions to problems of contemporary interest and potential application.
The 35 acres of lush green haven that we call home boasts of state-of-the-art research facilities. Our laboratories are well-equipped, with particular care about safety. We have a team of highly competent scientists, boiling with enthusiasm for pushing the frontiers and devising novel applications. We are fortunate to have our dedicated and capable Ph. D. students, whose relentless efforts open up newer avenues. Our efficient, helpful and caring administrative personnel ensure that the day to day running of the institute is as smooth as it can get. Together, we are a cohesive, determined team that has embarked upon a mission to unravel theintrigues of the nano world and hence, address some of the most pressing challenges of our time, be it sustainable energy, healthcare, environment, or advanced materials. We dream of becoming the nano hub of India and beyond, in the years to come.
It is my privilege to extend a warm invitation to all those who would like to share our dream and strive to realize it. We call upon prospective students, postdoctoral fellows as well as independent researchers to join us in our mission. Together, we will explore the unknown and scale the heights, with the intent to bring about a better tomorrow, making use of nano science and technology.
